Baharat is the Arabic word for Spice. This is an all-purpose seasoning widely used in Middle Eastern and North African cuisine and quite often in a similar fashion as garam masala in Indian cuisine, in other words to add flavor at the end of the dish. It is a versatile spice blend containing several fragrant spices such as black pepper and paprika which gives it a sweet, warm and earthy tone. It goes well as seasoning for beef, lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes. Try it on roast vegetables or roast potatoes.
